Snowshoeing

This year I will be bringing along three pairs of snowshoes, if anyone would like to try. They are suitable for packed snow, day hiking, but not for mountains or running in, really. I have the essential accoutrements, but you optionally could use your own things if you have them:

  • Cosy water-resistant boots or trainers (and ordinary XC boots will work)
  • Gaiters
  • Poles adjustable down to a bit above your elbow height - XC poles are often too long but summer trekking poles or downhill poles will work
If you have your own, even better - bring them along!

As a rough guide for length, suitable poles for snowshoeing are 0.7 * your height. It's nice to have adjustables so you can make them shorter for steep uphills.
